Gilberto Sánchez Escárcega
Has 18 years of solid experience as an attorney specialized in Intellectual Property matters. He has a keen knowledge and an integral vision in said matters given that he had the opportunity of working for many years at the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI), becoming independent afterward and working as a consultant and attorney for national and international companies.
During the time that he worked at the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI), Gilberto held several relevant positions such as:
- Supervisor of the Departmental Coordination of Nullities and of Inspection and Surveillance
- Departmental Coordinator of Cancellation and Expiration
After working at the IMPI, Gilberto handled countless issues relating to Industrial Property rights and participated in the processing of patent and trademark administrative nullity procedures and trademark expiration procedures as well as in matters relating to administrative infringements in Industrial Property matters and in counter-pirating operations both in administrative and legal seats.
Before founding Sánchez, Pedraza, Escalante, Coto y Figueroa, S.C., Gilberto founded and successfully headed, for several years, the Intellectual Property area of Link International de México, S.C., being an active collaborator in Industrial Property matters Law Firms and offices in various places in Europe, Asia, Oceania, Africa, the United States, Canada and Latin America.
- He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Law from the Universidad Intercontinental, in Mexico City with the Thesis “Proposed Amendment to the Industrial Property Law to Regulate Opposition in Trademark Registration”.
- He has postgraduate studies in Copyrights and Connected Rights by the Universidad de Buenos Aires (Buenos Aires, Argentina), postgraduate studies in Copyrights and Connected Rights.
